
Spend a day with Sophie Bancroft in Pathhead, Midlothian developing a song idea and working on your songwriting technique (in a one-to-one session or book as a group of 2 or 3 participants).
The session includes writing exercises, working on lyrics, melody and chords, a demo recording of your resulting song idea plus a notated song chart
and is approximately 5 hours long, 11.00am – 4.00pm, including a mid-session break for homemade vegetarian soup and bread.

A non-refundable deposit of £50 will be required to secure booking with the balance paid in full 7 days before the workshop. If you need to cancel and have a replacement, you can transfer the deposit to the next person.
About Sophie’s songwriting
Sophie Bancroft is a singer, songwriter and guitarist with a unique blend of jazz and folk influences. Her songs have been used on American hit TV shows ‘Six Feet Under’ and ‘CSI,’ been remixed and featured in European and American dance charts, and recorded by various jazz artistes around Europe including multi-award winning vocalist Liane Carroll with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and American award-winning jazz pianist Louis Durra.
Recently gaining a Masters in Creative Writing Sophie has been song-writing from an early age. Her most recent CD Monday Nights, featuring her duo Bancroft & Lyne and many of her own compositions was listed in Jazzviews top jazz albums of 2020 and her previous release, ‘Songs’ was listed in the ‘Top 50 albums of 2015’ by The Herald, Scotland.
One of her most recent songs, Old Mother Blackbird, was featured in a short film of the same title, made by Sophie. It has been screened on Virgin Atlantic’s inflight entertainment since June 2024 and at the Women Over Fifty Film Festival in 2023
